Tea tree oil packs some accurate cleaning punches. For this hack, you will need to add some tea tree oil to a spray bottle filled with white vinegar. Spray the areas that are affected by mold and mildew.

Pour a good amount of bicarbonate of soda, followed by some white vinegar, into your drain. These two ingredients will react to break down any dirt, grime, and grease clogging up the drain. After 10-15 minutes, pour boiling water down the drain to clean everything out. 

  1. Musty-smelling towels

Musty-smelling towels can take away the joy that comes after that oh-so-refreshing bath. Prevent musty smells by regularly washing towels in hot water with one to two cups of distilled white vinegar.

  1. Stain remover

To remove stains, mix 1/4 cup bicarbonate of soda, 2 cups of water, 1/4 cup white vinegar, and a squeeze of castile soap. Shake it vigorously and keep it in a spray bottle. Use it whenever you have a tough stain on your clothes or carpet. 

  1. Odor-free vacuuming

Carpets carry all sorts of debris and smell. The next time you vacuum your carpets, add a sprinkle of baking soda to your carpet first. Then, vacuum up the baking soda, leaving you with an odor-free carpet. Check with your vacuum cleaner manufacturer to see if it’s okay to us baking soda.

  1. Chopping board cleaner 

To disinfect your chopping boards, chop the lemon in half and rub it over the surface of your chopping board, then wipe it clean. If you have any tough stains,  squeeze lemon juice onto the chopping board. Let it sit for a few minutes before wiping it off.

Your garbage can carries, well, rubbish, but it, too, needs some love. To deodorize a garbage can, fill the bin with warm water and baking soda. Then soak overnight.

  1. Fix mattress stains/debris 

Humans shed a good amount of their skin while asleep. This means that a bed needs to be fixed for its stains. Here\’s how to deodorize your mattress and, hopefully, have a good night\’s sleep: Sprinkle with baking soda and let it sit for two hours before vacuuming.

  1. Air Freshener 

Fill a spray bottle with water and ten drops of your favorite essential oil. Please give it a sniff and a spray. Add a few more drops of oil if it needs it.   1. Linen spray

Linen sprays are simple to make, smell delicious, and even boast microbial properties. You will need 30 drops of cypress essential oil, 36 drops of lemon essential oil, 24 drops of lavender essential oil, 30 drops of essential oil, filtered or distilled water, and an 8 oz spray bottle, preferably a glass. Mix all ingredients inside the glass bottle, and spray on linen sparingly.

  1. Cleaning stained coffee and teapots

Don\’t throw away lemon peels. Besides containing microbial properties, they are also great for cleaning stained coffee and teapots. After you are done,  the lemon peels will leave a fresh, healthy scent to spice your cuppa.

  1. Clean the tub

This is a ten-minute hack for tubs. Mix one cup of vinegar, half a cup of baking soda with hot water and pour into an empty tub and allow it to sit for five minutes. Start filling the tub with hot water until it is approximately one-quarter filled, and let it sit for an additional five minutes. Use a gentle cleaning brush/towel on the scoured portions of the tub. Then release the drain and rinse thoroughly.
